Hello! There have been some exciting changes recently. I now have a proper domain and hosting account I am finally setting out to create the website I have always wanted. While previously at WordPress.com, I will now be using WordPress.org to continue website building, so will be learning about the differences over the next few days and getting to grips with the changes I need to make.
My main interests continue to be in history and genealogy. I will blog my discoveries and investigations right here on this website and I hope to make it the go to source for Mortimer history among many other families, sharing some interesting stories along the way. That’s all for now, I’m back to building my new website!

I have a G.G.grandmother Mary Frances Soden nee Mortimer, born 29th Dec. 1841.
she was the daughter of William Mortimer born 1806 Co. Cavan Ireland, his father was David Mortimer born 1780 Mullagh Co. Cavan Ireland.
Can anyone tell me please when the Mortimers came to Ireland?
Was it during the Cromwell wars?
My GG grandmother Mary Frances married and came out to Queensland Australia and were pioneers of the Brisbane Valley farm lands.
There is a de Mortimer on the battlefield right now called Jacquie Phoenix. She is from Canada and suffers from Ancestral Trauma, due to her family bloodline going back centuries. She continues fighting for the Peoples’ Sovereignty under Article 61 of Magna Carta 1215. Her Facebook Group is …… Practical Lawful Dissent International. Stand with her so she can Restore the Rule of Law, freeing humanity. We own our Public Buildings and we need to reclaim them because our Constitution demands we do so using Article 61.
Found this site very interesting after starting my own family tree with a substantial amount of Mortimers as it’s my mothers maiden name, seems to a Birstall in Yorkshire gathering of Mortimers
Thanks for your comment Dale. The Mortimers do go back a long way in Yorkshire too! I haven’t got on to documenting them just yet as I am still fixated on the Mortimers in Southern England.
Enjoyed the Blog, particularly interesting information about Wigmore Castle
Looking forward to finding out if we have a common ancestor or someone that relates us.
Great start! I’m looking forward to finding out more about the Mortimers. Perhaps a few more images?

Thanks for your feedback. I will make sure to include more pictures over the next few days.
